Boxing & brain damage.- A team of researchers working at the Sahlgrenska Institute of the University of Gotenburg in collaboration with the University of Linköping, both academic institutions in Sweden, has conducted a study with the support of the Swedish Boxing Federation that revealed how the practice of non-professional boxing is associated to brain damage.

The conclusions of this study have been recently published in the prestigious scientific magazine "PLoS ONE" confirming spread long-term suspicions.

The research, developed after monitoring to 30 Swedish boxers and 25 people who did not practise sports, assures that brain fluids experienced significant changes after a boxing competition, causing considerable damage to the neurons.
