A study revealed that more than the half of the subterranean water in the urban areas of China is contaminated.

The water of China.- Around 57% of the water found in the underground areas of the urban regions of China is contaminated or extremely contaminated.
This is the conclusion reached in a report conducted by the Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection. The situation worsens when considering that in rural areas more than 298 million of residents do not have access to drinkable water, according to official data.
The news has been published this week by the Chinese newspaper Diary of Economy Information which is part of the News Agency Xinhua.
The report has also revealed that during the first term of the year only two of the main rivers of China, the Yangtse and the Pearl, have good quality water.
The Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection has decided to focus its efforts on the protection of the rivers while testing all water supplies.
